Why BRJ Builders: A Better Way to Build

At BRJ Builders, we don’t just build homes - we build trust, protect our people, and lead with principle. From precision remodeling to custom homebuilding, every detail should reflect our values and our discipline. This is craftsmanship built to last, built to lead, and built for legacy.

Building or remodeling a home is a major investment, and construction is only one part of the job. Scope, design, code requirements, budget, selections, constructability, scheduling, trade coordination, documentation, and communication all affect the result. BRJ is structured around managing those decisions as one connected process.

We do not promise that construction will never be disruptive, that concealed conditions will never appear, or that a schedule can never change. We promise a more credible standard: deliberate planning, direct communication, early identification of risk, professional execution, and accountability from the first conversation through completion.

What Sets Us Apart

Family. Integrity. Respect. Safety. Teamwork. We call them FIRST because they are meant to come first - in how we plan, communicate, work in a client’s home, lead the jobsite, and treat the people responsible for the project.

01
FAMILY — Loyal by Design

At BRJ, family means we show up fully, consistently, and with care. That applies to our own team and to the way we treat a client’s home, time, and trust.

02
INTEGRITY — Built on Principle

Integrity is not situational. We communicate what we know, surface problems when they appear, document important decisions, and make recommendations based on what the project actually needs.

03
RESPECT — Finish Like It Matters

Respect shows up in the details: how we plan, how we speak, how we protect the home, how the jobsite is kept, and how the final work is finished.

04
SAFETY — Nothing Builds Without Safety

Safe work protects homeowners, employees, trade partners, and the project itself. Safety is a condition of good construction, not a box to check after the plan is made.

05
TEAMWORK — Collaboration Built In

Residential construction requires homeowners, designers, field leadership, suppliers, and trade partners to work from the same plan. BRJ builds collaboration into the process so responsibility does not disappear between handoffs.

Our Step-by-Step Process

Dream. Design. Build. is more than a tagline. It is the way BRJ moves a project from an idea to a defined plan and then into disciplined construction.

DREAM — Initial Consultation & Budget Alignment

Every project begins with an idea. We start by understanding what success looks like for you: how the home should function, what needs to change, the project location, timing, and the level of investment you are considering. When the project appears to be a fit, we move to a site visit and identify early opportunities or constraints such as existing conditions, zoning, code, access, or structural considerations.

Benjamin R. John / Owner & Founder

Ben is a Marine veteran and the owner and founder of BRJ Builders. He built the company around a straightforward belief: residential construction should be planned deliberately, communicated clearly, and led by people who take responsibility for the outcome.

Ben remains involved in company direction, project strategy, preconstruction, and complex work where early decisions have major effects on cost, constructability, or execution. BRJ’s mission Dream. Design. Build. and its FIRST values Family, Integrity, Respect, Safety, and Teamwork define the company he is building for clients, employees, trade partners, and the future.

Michael John

Operations Manager

Michael oversees the operational side of BRJ’s construction work, coordinating field leadership, active-project schedules, staffing, sequencing, and the day-to-day decisions required to keep projects moving safely and consistently. He works closely with preconstruction, clients, and the field as projects transition from planning into execution, with a focus on removing obstacles, keeping information moving, and protecting schedule, quality, and client experience.

Paul Sheahan

Site Superintendent

Paul is BRJ’s senior field leader on assigned projects and remains a hands-on part of execution. He coordinates jobsite readiness, trade partners, inspections, materials, sequencing, and field problem-solving while keeping the site safe, organized, and professional. His role is to translate the approved plans, specifications, selections, and schedule into disciplined work in the field and identify issues early enough that they can be solved before they become larger cost, schedule, or quality problems.

Chris Hill

Lead Carpenter

Chris is a Lead Carpenter on BRJ’s field team, bringing hands-on carpentry skill and day-to-day execution leadership to active projects. His work spans framing, installation, finish details, coordination, and the problem-solving that comes with working in existing homes. As a lead carpenter, he helps carry BRJ’s standards into the work itself: safe execution, clean workmanship, respect for the home, and attention to the details clients will live with long after the project is complete.

KBR Design — Affiliated Kitchen & Bath Design Resource

KBR Design is BRJ’s affiliated kitchen and bath showroom and design resource. KBR supports cabinetry, countertops, flooring, selections, and showroom-based design work, while BRJ Builders remains responsible for the construction project. Keeping those teams closely coordinated helps reduce handoffs between product decisions and field execution.
